Lanternburst

It is the night of the river festival, and the paper lanterns are tangled in the ropes above the water. Shoot lanterns up from your boat and burst three or more of the same color. Anything left hanging from nothing falls into the river, and big drops score big. Each painted symbol (sun, moon, star, leaf, flower, flame) matches its color, so the colors are easy to tell apart.

How to play

• Levels: 600 levels in forty places along the river. Clear the top row, free every trapped firefly, ring the bells, make lanterns fall, gather one color or clear the whole board before you run out of lanterns. New pieces arrive as you go: bells, rafters, sparklers, frozen knots, veiled lanterns and dye. Lanterns left over at the end become fireworks for bonus points.
• Bank shots: lanterns bounce off the side walls. The dotted aim line shows the whole path, bounces included, and rings the spot where the lantern will stick.
• Streaks: burst something with shot after shot to raise the score multiplier. The spark meter fills as you burst and drop lanterns, and a full meter loads a free Rocket.
• Daily puzzle: one board a day, the same for everyone. Solve it on consecutive days to build a streak.
• Endless: every shot burns a wick, and a shot that bursts nothing burns two. When the wicks run out a new row drops in, and each night brings fewer wicks. Keep the lanterns above the river as long as you can.

Special lanterns

• Iron lanterns never burst. Drop them by cutting away what holds them up.
• Knotted lanterns untie when a lantern bursts next to them.
• Firecrackers explode when a burst reaches them and take their neighbors with them.
• Shifting lanterns change color after every shot.
• Starlight lanterns match any color.
• Boosters: the Rocket burns straight through up to 14 lanterns, the Starlight shot matches every color it touches, and the Blast blows up every lantern within two cells.

Controls

Aim with the mouse and click to shoot, or drag on a touch screen and let go to shoot (drag back down to the boat to cancel). Tap the waiting lantern or right-click to swap it with the loaded one. On a keyboard, the Left arrow and Right arrow keys aim (hold Shift for fine aim), Space shoots, S swaps, 1, 2 and 3 load boosters, Esc pauses and M turns sound and music off or on.

Your progress saves automatically. Earn stars to open star chests of boosters.
