Chestnut Solitaire
Three classic patience games at one table: Klondike, Spider and FreeCell. Every deal you are given has been solved by a computer before it reaches you, so each one can be won. Play the three daily deals to keep your streak going, or follow the Trail, ten deals to a chapter, and earn up to three stars on each.
How to play
- Drag a card, or a run of cards, onto another pile, or tap it to send it to the best place. Tap again to try the next place.
- Build the four foundations up by suit, from Ace to King. When every card is home, you win.
- Undo takes back as many moves as you like. Hint shows a useful move; hints for Klondike and Spider only use cards you can see.
- Cards that nothing else can need go home by themselves, and a game that can only be won finishes itself. Both can be turned off in Settings.
Klondike
Seven columns, the last card of each face up. Build columns down in alternating colours (a red 6 on a black 7) and move whole runs between them. Only a King can go into an empty column. Tap the stock to turn over one card (Draw 1) or three (Draw 3), and play the top card of the waste. Scoring: 10 for a card going home, 5 for a card from the waste to a column, 5 for turning over a column card, minus 15 for taking a card back from a foundation, minus 50 (Draw 1) or 20 (Draw 3) each time the stock is turned back over, and a time bonus of 600 minus the seconds taken when you win.
Spider
Two decks in ten columns. Build down regardless of suit, but only a run of one suit moves as a unit. A full run of one suit from King down to Ace leaves the table by itself; clear all eight to win. Tap the stock to deal one more card onto every column (every column needs a card first). One suit is the gentlest; four suits is the real test. You start with 500 points, lose 1 per move and gain 100 per finished run.
FreeCell
All 52 cards face up in eight columns, with four free cells that hold one card each. Build columns down in alternating colours. You can move several cards at once when there is room to do it one card at a time: with empty cells and columns, the limit is (free cells + 1) times 2 for each empty column.
Daily deals and the Trail
Each day brings one Klondike, one Spider and one FreeCell deal, the same for everyone. Weekends use Draw 3 and two-suit Spider. Win at least one on the day to extend your streak. The Trail is an endless path of deals in chapters of ten that get harder as you go: one star for a win, two without hints, three without hints or undo.
