Where the cue hits the cue ball
Chalkdown
A game of 8-ball on a seven-foot table where every ball follows real physics: balls slide before they roll, spin bends the cue ball's path, cut shots throw the object ball a little off line, and cushions and pocket jaws send balls where they would really go. Play the computer at five levels, work your way through fifteen rivals in five pool halls, play a friend on the same device, or pot everything you can in Run Out.
How to play
- Goal: pot your group, solids (1 to 7) or stripes (9 to 15), then the 8. The first ball you pot after the break decides the groups.
- Aim: move the mouse over the table, or touch the table on a phone or tablet. The guide shows the ball you will hit and where both balls go.
- Shoot: press on the table, pull back and let go, or drag the Power bar down and let go.
- Spin: tap the cue ball button to hit above, below or to the side of centre. Top spin follows, backspin draws back, side spin changes cushion angles.
- Fouls: potting the cue ball, hitting nothing or the wrong group first, or no cushion after contact gives your opponent ball in hand anywhere.
- The 8: aiming it at a pocket calls that pocket; click or tap a pocket to call another. Potting it early, in another pocket or with a foul loses the rack.
- Run Out: pot any ball. Each pot raises the multiplier; a miss or a scratch costs one of three lives. The Daily Run is a new table every day.
